Positive Tickets

Rocky Credit Union has teamed up with the RCMP, Clearwater County Highway Patrol, Clearwater Community Policing Advisory Committee (CCPAC), the Village of Caroline and the Town of Rocky Mountain House to reward youth for doing something good through its “Positive Ticketing” program. We are starting the program again, and this time it will run year round.

RCMP & Peace Officers hands out Positive Tickets to youth for doing good things in the community.  Many of these youth received tickets for wearing bike helmets, walking bikes across streets, or picking up garbage in their neighborhood.

Once the youth received a ticket, he or she turned it in at Rocky Credit Union and received a reward.  The prizes ranged from toys to t-shirts to Chamber of Commerce gift certificates that can be used at participating retailers in the community.  Each ticket will be entered in a larger prize draw once a quarter.

The program has proven to be so popular with the officers and children that the Town of Rocky Mountain House nominated the program for a Community Spirit Award with the Central Alberta Economic Partnership. "The Town applauds the Rocky Credit Union for their Positive Ticket Program, as it was a great way to involve and reward the youth in our community!" said Dean Schweder, Tourism & Economic Development Coordinator for the Town of Rocky Mountain House.

"The positive Tickets are a great way to acknowledge and appreciate that the children are doing a great job by keeping safe or helping others around town. Hopefully next year I will be able to give away many more positive tickets," said Hannelie Rosdal, Peace Officer with the town.

"I love to see the faces of the kids who come into the office to hand in their ticket to get their prize," said Joann Thomspon, Rocky Credit Union Executive Assistant.  "They have a grin from ear to ear – some of them also like to keep the ticket for their scrapbook!!   It also lets them know that Police/Peace Officers are not someone to be scared of."
